Autumn Colours Finished

Another couple of hours worked on this and I will now call it finished. Putting a wash of a darker yellow grey colour over the yellow pepper got rid of that harsh orange tone. Playing with it more will just make it overworked. I will wax it to protect it once it is completely dry.

Step 6

A couple more hours done on this yesterday. My camera is having a hard time getting a good photo. Not sure which colour paint is causing it to glow like it is radioactive but it doesn't look like that in real life.

The peppers are almost finished but there is still a lot more work to do on the towel in front.

step 5

Another couple of hours done on this. The values and colours are getting closer to being finished on the peppers and are done in the colander except for final adjustments at the end. The orange is really glowing in this photo and are not that phlorescent in real life.

Step 4

I got a couple of hours done this morning. I concentrated on correcting the colours and values in the colander and the towel under it.

step 3

It was hard to get a good photo today. It is cloudy and dull. I only had about an hour to work on it so I started working on values in the colander and the red pepper. There is a long way to go even just on the colander but even a short time painting gets more done than none at all.

Autumn Colours step 2

I've finished the background and have started blocking in washes of colour. Some areas are more complete than others but still a long way to go.

Autumn Colours step 1

I have finally started to paint again after much to much time away. I am starting with a simple still life I set up of a colander and some peppers although it's pretty hard to see that is what it is. There are the first two washes on the background but I have at least one more to do to make it a deep velvety black. This one is watercolour but I'm going to try oils again this winter on a portrait. One step at a time though. :-)
