portrait exercise in pastels

This is the portrait I practised on in the second day of the workshop. It isn't a finished piece but I'll leave it where it is. The next time I try a pastel I'll take more time on it. Everyone in the workshop seemed to enjoy themselves and we all learned a lot. I'll do more in pastels in the future I think.

Dog in Pastels

It has been a long time since my last entry. Income taxes, trips and life in general has kept me from painting. Today I attended the first day of a two day workshop to learn the basics of pastels. Here is my work from today. More tomorrow.
